Day one is complete. We have had an extraordinary day of tributes, kind and generous people. We are riding to increase awareness of the lack of funding for kids cancer. With $1.2M raised to date we ‘hope’ - and intend - to do something about that!
All is well, wonky hip, and all.
Day 1 of our cross-country ride is complete. It was a moving day of commemorations, kind and generous people. This ride is all about them and those who directly or indirectly are effected by cancer. By riding we publicize the lack of funding for kids cancer and ‘hope’ to do something about it.
What a privilege to do something so exciting as cycle across Canada for an incredibly worthy cause. I officially let many know about this yesterday. The email responses have been great - very encouraging and very much appreciated. To be sure I have a Rocky-esque challenge in front of me (not the movie … THE Rockies!). I love mountains but to cycle across them is daunting. That said, the challenge to help kids with cancer (and those living with its after effects) just be kids is far larger; the opportunity to set such an example for my kids very motivating. I feel privileged, excited, committed and driven. I have 152 days to get ready and … I will be.
